There is a new reason to visit Royal Óbidos – even if you're not playing golf or staying at the resort.
Osteria Verdi opened in May 2026 and has quickly become a restaurant I am very happy to recommend.
Royal Óbidos has managed to create something that feels genuinely different: a little taste of Italy in this beautiful – and sometimes rather traditional – part of Portugal.
Italian food, a relaxed atmosphere – and a wonderful view
Osteria Verdi is a modern Italian restaurant with pizza, fresh pasta and other Italian dishes, all presented with the level of quality you would expect at Royal Óbidos.
The restaurant itself isn't particularly large. There is an open kitchen, a modern and comfortable interior and a narrow outdoor terrace running along the restaurant.
And then there is the location.
From the restaurant and terrace, you look out towards the Óbidos Lagoon and across part of the Royal Óbidos golf course. It is a beautiful setting, particularly on a clear afternoon or evening.
From the restaurant you can also look across towards the beautiful par-3 3rd hole at Royal Óbidos, with its island green and the Óbidos Lagoon beyond.
When we visited Osteria Verdi for the first time, the restaurant was quite crowded and the seats available to us were at the counter directly in front of the open kitchen.
That turned out to be anything but a disappointment. Watching the chefs work and seeing the dishes being prepared added to the atmosphere and made the open kitchen very much part of the experience.

A third dining option at Royal Óbidos
Osteria Verdi also adds something that was missing at Royal Óbidos.
There is already Cobalt Restaurant at the hotel and The Legend Restaurant at the golf clubhouse. Osteria Verdi complements them nicely by offering something different – Italian, slightly more relaxed in character, but still with very good quality and surroundings.
And you certainly don't need to be staying at Royal Óbidos to go there.
Good to know
Osteria Verdi is part of Royal Óbidos, but it is located slightly away from the hotel and golf clubhouse. From the main entrance to Royal Óbidos, continue across the roundabout to the other side, where you will find the restaurant beside the padel and minigolf area.
There is a large parking area immediately outside, so arriving by car is easy.
Reservations: The restaurant is relatively small, so I recommend booking a table in advance, particularly for dinner. When booking, be specific about whether you would prefer to sit inside or outside on the terrace. On a warm day or evening, the terrace is naturally particularly attractive because of the views.

My recommendation
If you are staying or playing at Royal Óbidos, Osteria Verdi is an easy recommendation.
But don't think of it simply as another resort restaurant.
If you're staying somewhere else in the Óbidos or Silver Coast area and feel like good Italian food in beautiful surroundings, I would happily make the trip to Osteria Verdi just for dinner.
A little piece of Italy, overlooking the Óbidos Lagoon – in the middle of Portugal.
A small curiosity
The view towards Royal Óbidos' par-3 3rd hole has a little extra meaning for me.
A few years ago, together with Royal Óbidos, I created a unique golf game based on the design of this particular hole, with its island green. The game was specially produced and used as a prize at my golf tournaments in Scandinavia.
So whenever I look down towards the 3rd hole, it brings back a few good memories.
